Developing an emergency plan

We don’t like to think about it, but emergencies do happen.  With a typical child, we fill out an
emergency contact form of someone who knows our child that can pick them up in
an emergency and that’s about as far as some of us go.  It requires a little more planning for a
child with special needs

This course will help you take you through a series of lessons to help you develop an emergency plan.
We’ll take a look at some common scenarios and work through what is needed in each.

  • Middle of the night emergency (need someone to watch them)
  • Picking up my child from school ( car trouble, emergency, etc)
  • Tragic situation, child needs to stay a few days with somebody….
  • I’m going to do something dangerous to myself or my child (emergency respite)

Introduction to Microboards

All of us want to envision a life of joy and possibility for our kids.  We want to know that when they grow up they can continue into adulthood and be self sufficient.  I don’t know about you, but before I learned about Microboards, I would look at my non-verbal, wheelchair bound daughter and could not imagine how that would happen.   Now I know that by creating a Microboard, she will not only be taken care of but she’ll lead a safe and happy life that she is in control of!  In this course you will learn about what a Microboard is, why you would put on in place, and how it will benefit your child and ease your mind!
